Most General Counsel agree that their principal job should be that of managing risks. This constrasts often with what they actually do: which is fight fires. EFFACTS is happy to support the GRC Subcommittee of LEDES. One of the purposes of  this subcommittee is to develop a code set for legal data exchange on GRC matters.

The GRC market is eight years old. Differentiation today is about the ability to deliver advanced risk management functionality, with analysis of the impact of risks on business performance, domain expertise in multiple highly regulated industries, and ease of use and configurability. In the past, differentiation was about how well the basic core functions of a GRC platform — audit management, compliance management, risk management and policy management — were addressed.

The Hosting Services of EFFACTS are now available in the United States. As of January 14, 2013, we offer the EFFACTS database on the US webservers of Amazon. Customers can now choose to host EFFACTS themselves, use the EFFACTS European Servers or use the EFFACTS USA Servers.

This spring, we will organize two advanced training courses for administrators. The courses will focus on the functional aspects of our corporate legal platform including orgcharts, reporting, workflows and notification.

1. The first workshop will be held on Thursday March 10
2. The second workshop will be held on Thursday April 15

The new Orgchart engine is released in Beta. Hereby a first impression of the new look-and-feel.

EFFACTS recently joined the LEDES organization. The Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard Oversight Committee (“LOC”) is an international, voluntary, not-for-profit organization comprised of legal industry representatives and is charged with creating and maintaining open standard formats for the electronic exchange of billing and other information between corporations and law firms.

The LOC is dedicated to using open standards which cater to no one organization or group of organizations to uniformly satisfy the complex needs of the legal industry based on 5 basic principles:

1. keep it simple;
2. make it unambiguous;
3. diverge from existing formats as little as absolutely necessary;
4. only ask for information the law firm is typically able to provide from their financial system; and
5. meet the needs of corporations, law firms and legal industry software vendors to the maximum extent possible consistent with the first four criteria.

This month we integrated the EFFACTS platform with the WEBDRIVE of SouthRiver Technologies.

Users can install the WEBDRIVE on a their  own computer to create a local folder structure of the

EFFACTS platform. The structure is a local mirror of the relevant folders in EFFACTS. This tool offers two features for the User:

Drag-and-drop files for a local folder to the EFFACTS folder

Insert files from the EFFACTS folder into an email in Outlook

As of October 16th 2012, we will organize every Tuesday a free workshop at our offices in Amsterdam. All Users are invited to join us between 13:00 and 17:00 for any question and/or training. The workshops are free of charge. If you want to join the workshop, you need to send our Service Desk at least 5 days in advance an email that you will join the workshop. It is possible to join the workshop with more colleagues.
